I know. And it can't be ruled out that there will even be stolen nuclear bombs be used. Which is absolutely scaring and there is no reason to believe Europe or Germany is a much safer place!

Looking at this, it seems tough to say that any escalation should be avoided. Let me clear up what I mean with such "escalation". That all our countries will also loose their relative inner peace. That we are drawn in a vicious circle of violence where no argument makes a difference any more, where suddenly 1 bln Christians and one bln Muslims suddenly can't live together any more without fearing being stabbed or shot. With perhaps millions people dying because the world is polarized. Where our brave new world is rendered to a world where going out at night might get forbidden for security reasons.

There is simply so much at stake that that we have to be very careful and wise. Mourning is an appropreate feeling, fear is, too. Not _blind_ revenge is needed to overcome the pain and instead adding even more.

The means to be used are efforts to bring the situation under control in a political manner and police-like measures to enforce them, supported by military pressure, but not _plain_ war. E.g. going to Afganistan, remove the government, enforce law, but let innocent or just dependent people alone. The poor majorities in these countries have no freedom of choice. Let's give it to them and arrest the guilty. If they don't ly their weapons down, well, they risk to be killed. Let's solve the problem in a way that meets the culture we have developed. We have a UN carta and an Oslo protocol. Let's just enforce it - by force - but let's not go to war! I hope you see the difference. The solution will be complicated and maybe we are in a situation where we can't punish the guity persons because we simply can't find them. Our hands bound. But should we trait ourselves by being equally wrong? There are no whole NATIONS or RELIGIONS that back these terrorists. There are only groups of individuals. There is no easy way to retailiate even though we may wish it. Should we risk to destroy us all only for a short-term relief of pain? The more innocent die, the more innocent will die! It's horrible but now we have to cope with it somehow and try not to make mistakes.
