I saw an interview with Dennis Ross, former Ambassador at Large for the Middle East. Among the things he discussed, was a really good point about countering the indoctrination that goes on in many places. His idea is a long term information campaign, led by Muslim clerics that communicated the true (peaceful) message of Islam. The message among other things would communicate that this terrorism is unacceptable in the eyes of Allah.
