that's true, however, technical signals in the gold market have been remarkably unreliable on several occasions in recent years. that said, the current chart picture resembles very closely the beginning of the '82-'83 rally as well as the beginning of the '85-'87 rally. in addition to that, the 8 year cycle has turned up, and we're already late in the cycle, meaning we should normally expect it to catch up. it is unfortunate that one has to qualify every statement regarding gold with 'normally', 'usually', etc.
