DavesM: 1. It is quite difficult to know exactly how successful Israel has been, but they certainly have been employing methods far more stringent than we have for a long time: military response and assassination.
2. Whatever Bush has in mind, he is moving too fast.
3. Afghanistan ios not actually in the stone age, but the point was they do not have significant assets that will make the cost of shielding bin Laden too high for them were they to lose them.
4. I do not propose that we leave bin Laden alone. But he is only a symbol at this point. He's not the root of the tree, he's the ornament at the top. Eliminating him will not stop the next cell from attempting to carry out whatever plan they have.
