has there been a lot of short covering today? does that take some steam out of the supposed rally to be coming? if shorts are scared because of the PPT, who is going to prop up the market after they cover? that seems like a more bearish scenario because shorts (and nobody else) would profit from a downfall. it seems all news sources have the same story about a bit of a selloff at the open, and that puts in the bottom. a guy on public radio today (Peroni at Nuveen) seemed to say he expects the absolute bottom today. with all these people calling for a bottom today (or this week at the latest), it seems that scenario MUST be wrong.
