Knives that are in carry on could be taped to the torso. Knives are ineffective when the cabin is full of sleeping gas!! The only thing that is effective is a gas mask.. Hard to tape a gas mask to your torso without someone taking notice.. As far as the rest of your arguments.. People must be willing to accept basic changes in the way things used to be.. A people unwilling to do so, are only inviting further attacks... PCSTEL
