We'll I've forgotten much since I passed the CPA exam but in the 70's companies used to classify many items as extraordinary and keep these items below the line for reporting purposes. I forget what bulletin or standard corrected this but it was in the late 70's or early 80's. Companies always try to game the #'s.

Just saying this to indicate we really don't know how they reported #'s in the past (I think to some extent we'll always be comparing apples to oranges) for comparison.
