Deibutfeif, RE: "My speculation is that given what may have been terrible living conditions for them back in the middle east, perhaps they accepted an offer from the terrorist bosses: perform such-and-such act, and we will provide $X to your family. Oh, and by the way, you'll end up in Paradise too (wink, wink)." -------------------------------------------
That particular point echoes my point that I had made and wondered about, which was:
Education and jobs give people hope to create a better life, a future, a better lifestyle.
Maybe terrorists are like street thugs that come out if they don't have hope and aren't kept busy being productively employed.
So, the solution could be honest jobs, not terrorist jobs funded by Bin Laden. I seem to recall from my history, that the USA had given Germany and Japanese money to rebuild their countries after the war with them - this created hope, jobs and kept people productively employed. It only takes a few horrible people, like Hitler, to manipulate many people. The counter to this, the answer could be taking those people away from Bin Laden's financial support and getting them productively employed so they aren't dependent upon him, following him like sheep.
