RE: "Prejudice and bigotry have no place on this board or in this country... period! One would have thought Americans would have learned that by now. Fingolfen,
That's my concern too. It's deeply disturbing to see folks that we know, that we have been speaking to for years now, take this unusual turn. I'm going to assume for the moment, they are saying things in the heat of the moment.
But keep speaking up. You may be helping people stop and think.
History has shown, that if no one speaks up, great wrongs can be done. I give Bush credit for speaking up on this point about racism.
Unfortunately, this situation could turn into a mob psychology situation where even Bush's voice is not being heard regarding his plea for folks not to be racist. The racism is indeed becoming loud, even on this board. It is sad to see. Very sad. Very disappointing.
I have hope that when folks cool down, they may understand the point you made, the point that I have made, and the point that Bush made about racism.
You would think, at a minimum, they would at least listen to Bush on this very same point?
Scary to think if people are not listening to Bush on this point. I hope this situation doesn't turn into an out-of-control mob where even the President loses control.
I pray that people in this country find the strength to be good and are able to manage their pain so that their anger doesn't spiral out of control against innocent people in this country.
