I remember hearing about a manouver in Nam times, that was declared a total, unmitigated failure by higher-level brass: every one of the officers in the position to make real decisions eventually called in B52 to nuke the other side out. It did not take the thread a week and we are talking total eradication, solitary confinement, mother of all battles, riders on the storm, Jesus Christ, to the frontline! bla bla bla... Now, if the military sent their own people back to the drawing board with a suggestion to show a little more phantasy, if they really want to keep their stars, we could give it another try too. Before we lose our marbles. What about it?
