Technology and the creativity of the American people, let alone our allies, can do damn well anything we decide to. The challenge is only to keep the current mossback companies making tons of money, at the same time parts of the businesses go obsolete. We can do that too. The trillion-dollar energy economy can shift a big part to renewables, and still run at the trillion-dollar rate. Even more, since we export a hell of a lot more technology around the world than oil... All it takes... is the proverbial "call to action" The leadership vacuum has to realize we're going to do it,with them, or without them. But it would be much quicker with them.
