yes, the gold stocks didn't really do all that much today...i believe it's a sign that there's a consensus the rally in the metal is only a temporary phenomenon. and you're of course right about shorting oil being a dangerous business here...imo the oil fields/installations of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are on Bin Laden's list of targets, possibly quite high on the list. and i don't believe for a second that he can't do it if he wants to. he probably has a bigger fan club in these countries than anyone suspects. European TV stations showed documentaries on the dude all week long, and the various interviews showed that this guy is a hero in many people's eyes in the Islamic world. he's the modern leader of the order of the hashishin...and the breadth and geographical spread of his operations is astounding.
