You make two assertions: 1) that I have done no reading on the topic, and 2) that I made assertions about bin Laudens thoughts. Let me simply say that with respect to the first, you are simply wrong, and leave it at that. Beyond that, your assertion does not disprove my statement. Perhaps you are not familiar with the art of debate.
My basic statement is a simplification of their own rhetoric, their own justification of this (their latest) massacre. Which by the way, has been repeated many times by them over the last week, if you had bothered to listen. I would say it reaches the point of common knowledge, if not understanding and comprehension.
You are correct, this is a broadly based attack on Western culture. And you are also correct, at least in my opinion, that in comparison to the loss of life, today was not a disaster. But make no mistake, on an absolute scale, it was a disaster. Down 10% in a day? That's a disaster. All we need is another day or two like it, and we are in depression. Forget recession.
I have read a few of your other posts, and I am not sure you want to dialog or to bloviate. Let's see.
Do you believe the USS Cole and the embassies were targets of choice or opportunity? Do you think we should completely ignore the attacks or take action? Maybe we should become "sophisticated" like the Europeans and just settle into accomodation to terrorism? And by the way, are you American?
