The good news is the country is in a sea change. I had a chat today with an "old liberal" and outlined how the country was very soon going to shift to the right, and return to many standards of behavior, acceptance of authority, respect for leaders and the military, etc. along the lines we had in the 1940s and 1950s.
He contested that view and said, "I'm not going to change."
I said, "Who cares? You don't get a vote."
"Why not? Everyone gets a vote."
"Nope, in the same way the conservatives, strong morals groups didn't get a "vote" during 1963-2000 to stem the tide of pornography, Hollywood, self indulgence and general priapism, your group won't get a vote."
Those kids in Berkeley, aping their teachers' blase attitude about world events, will be singing a very different tune in 6-9 months, and quite a few of them will be visiting Army and Navy recruiters trying to get into the service. They will view their teachers and elders with contempt so great that the great contempt of the 60's (Don't trust anyone over 30) will pale in comparison.
