I didn't see anything in cTM-H's posts that merited the extremely snippy (as opposed to joshingly curmudgeonly) tone some of the recent posts here have taken...

It's obvious that Bush has not been as compelling a leader during recent days as, for example, Rudy Giuliani, whose behavior has led practically the entire city to praise him, including tons of previous critics. And it's obvious, at least to me, that his rhetoric and that of some of his subordinates has begun to go off the rails (e.g., the comments by the Defense Department's No. 2 about "ending terrorist states").

It also seems clear, from the press coverage, that Cheney has been playing a huge role in WH decisionmaking, and that WH staffers are so sensitive about this that they are desperately trying to spin the situation to make it look otherwise.

so, while support for the office and the government can be presumed--and has never been called into question by TM-H or anybody else around here as far as I can see--some skepticism about dubyah's personal performance in all of this would seem entirely legitimate, if that's what one's own observations lead to...
