Diamond Multimedia drives DVD-ready PC systems with specialized line of Maximum DVD Kit solutions for system integrators and VARs

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1997--Strengthening its position as a leader in Internet multimedia acceleration, Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:DIMD) today announced that it will offer a line of Maximum DVD Kits specially designed to meet the needs of North American system integrators.

Comprised of cutting-edge DVD hardware components, Diamond's new kits provide a selection of attractive, full-featured solutions for widespread implementation of DVD technology on the PC desktop. Diamond's specialized Maximum DVD Kits will be available later this month through selected distributors to system integrators and VARs in North America. Also announced today, Diamond Multimedia's first retail-version Maximum DVD Kit will be available at North American retail stores later this month.

Offering system compatibility and configuration flexibility, Diamond's Maximum DVD Kit 2000DB, an analog-overlay solution, can be used with virtually any graphics accelerator. Diamond's kit comes with Toshiba's DVD-ROM drive; Diamond's PCI-based DVD adapter utilizing a Toshiba chipset and equipped with MPEG-2 and Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio decoders; composite video and S-VHS TV-out support, allowing PC users to watch DVD and MPEG-2 movies on their TV; and navigational software.

For system integrators that need a complete, all-in-one DVD solution, Diamond is introducing its Maximum DVD Kit 1000DBG with Toshiba's DVD-ROM drive; Diamond's PCI-based DVD adapter utilizing a C-Cube chipset, equipped with MPEG-2 and Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio decoders; composite video and S-VHS TV-out support; and navigational software. In addition to these components, the kit comes with Diamond's DVD-ready, award-winning Stealth 3D 2000 Pro, a high-performance EDO-DRAM graphics accelerator based on S3's ViRGE/DX engine.

Diamond Multimedia is also announcing its Maximum DVD Kit 1000DB with Toshiba's DVD-ROM drive; Diamond's PCI-based DVD adapter utilizing a C-Cube chipset, equipped with MPEG-2 and Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio decoders; composite video and SVHS TV-out support; and navigational software.
