InfoSpace, Inc. Claesson and Baur, both former Microsoft Corporation executives, bring more than 35 years of senior management experience to InfoSpace. "We are committed to broadening the leadership across our organization by adding seasoned, world-class executives who complement the strengths of InfoSpace's current senior management team," said Naveen Jain, chairman and CEO of InfoSpace, Inc. "Jan and York bring vast experience and unique perspectives to InfoSpace, and we are pleased to have them on the team. Their talents, expertise and skills are valuable assets to help us grow for the future and continue delivering long-term value for our partners and our shareholders." Claesson joined Microsoft in 1985 when it was a private company and spent more than a decade holding several executive positions spanning groups of more than 1,000 people and $1.5 billion in revenues. Most notably and recently, Claesson directed Microsoft's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) efforts with its top 10 customers in the U.S., including Compaq, Dell, Gateway and others. In this role, his team produced a significant portion of Microsoft's net income by building revenues and relationships, while laying the foundation for a multi-billion dollar division. "InfoSpace has demonstrated tremendous vision and execution in the wireless industry since 1996," said Jan Claesson, InfoSpace executive vice president, wireless. "The InfoSpace wireless platform has garnered fantastic traction in the global marketplace, which is a testament to the Company's relentless efforts and strong technology. I am thrilled at the opportunity to lead InfoSpace's wireless business unit and look forward to the challenges and many successes ahead." Claesson's other accomplishments at Microsoft included establishing international subsidiaries, controller for Europe, part of the senior team for International efforts, leading developer and corporate support, and building significant revenues with the systems integrators. Baur brings to InfoSpace more than 15 years of executive sales and marketing experience with public, private and start-up companies, as well as a strong technical background. His experience includes the position of group manager of the Solutions Information Group, a group he helped co-found, at Microsoft. He managed a group responsible for developing, producing and promoting Microsoft's DevCast, Business Solutions Telecast and TechEd developer events worldwide. These efforts reached more than 100,000 developers and technical decision-makers annually with Microsoft strategy, product offerings and services. Today this group is responsible for the millions of value added resellers, developers, and systems supporters that have made Windows(R) the success it is today. "InfoSpace's wireline Internet infrastructure business is the Company's current foundation and includes many Internet blue-chip clients, including AOL, Microsoft, Lycos, Walt Disney, NBC, among thousands of others," said York Baur, InfoSpace executive vice president, wireline and broadband. "The `wired' Internet is not going away and the opportunities today's economic climate presents for the long-term are vast, especially as we continue to target the broadband market and strike relationships similar to InfoSpace's recent announcement with Verizon's ISP businesses." Prior to joining InfoSpace, he co-founded and served as vice president, sales and marketing, for SafariDog, Inc., a start-up focused on developing and marketing next-generation broadband applications. Previously, Baur served as vice president of sales for the business communications group for InterVU, Inc., now Akamai Technologies, Inc., and vice president for Cyberprise Products at Wall Data, Inc.
