I think childhood plays a very important part in character development...

I have seen Arabs beat the shit outta their kids - in public places, at home, in the malls. There are so many kids per family that parental support is almost none...the kids bring themselves up....the 7 year old sibling is a better mom/dad for the 6 year old than their mom or dad can ever hope to be....

It is their way of life. I'm not criticising it, for its unfair to be judgemental unless you are in their shoes...but it must leave a vaccuum...a need unfulfillled, which manifests itself in some ways and dogs them thru their adult life.

SOMETHING makes them the way they are....and I cannot believe it is their religion.

You talked about Maslow. Yes. The basic needs of love security recognition esteem and fairness remain unfulfilled and I agree with your interpretation...but Maslow presupposes that men and women are not bad, that they are good and kind people, that they crave good things in life, and their intentions are good....

How can such a basic and fundamental assumption about human behaviour be so wrong...? Why are 99% of the modern day terrorists Moslems and come from Middle East ?
