I have seen Arabs beat the shit outta their kids - in public places, at home, in the malls. There are so many kids per family that parental support is almost none...the kids bring themselves up....the 7 year old sibling is a better mom/dad for the 6 year old than their mom or dad can ever hope to be....
It is their way of life. I'm not criticising it, for its unfair to be judgemental unless you are in their shoes...but it must leave a vaccuum...a need unfulfillled, which manifests itself in some ways and dogs them thru their adult life.
I agree that it leaves a vacuum, sows the seeds of evil in some. But I will go a step further than you are willing to. Yes, it is wrong. It is wrong to breed 57 children by God knows how many women and not pay any attention to fulfilling their needs. It is wrong to tell women they can't read or work or move about in society. It is wrong to teach people, in the name of religion or in the name of criminal enterprise or both, that they will go to heaven by virtue of acts of destruction.
I also happen to think it is wrong to allow them to shield themselves in culture and religion or their environments. At some point, a culture or subculture is diseased, dysfunctional, and dangerous to the overall civilization. At that point, being judgmental is not only unavoidable, it is essential. There is a line that, once crossed, permits civilized society to make judgments, to be "judgmental". |
