Isn't this a Bandura's downward spiral then ? What rational, long term suggestion do you have to prevent and control it ? Please do not say bomb the entire middle east...or every dissident country... A lot of these terrorists are trained as freedom fighters, for revolting against despotic govts. Are we taking away the right to do that from the countries...? Or are we saying that only the countries supported by America can have these training camps...? And sometimes, even that works against America. Saddam and Bin Ladin were both trained and armed by the US...against communism.....so was Pakistan... What IS the answer ? To me there seems no answer to the solution...its a grey line...on one side is terrorism and on the other side is the right of the people, right of choosing to support the govt of their choice... I am not being sarcastic here...for I am confounded by the problem and don't see a solution which could help the world come out of this spiral which reinforces itself downwards... <He did postulate that an external event can change the flow...can the NYC disater be that event ?> These are soul searching question....and there IS no right answer...every answer is colored by the environment that surrounds the people who try to answer that question....the problem starts when the American Govt tries to answer these questions for the world...and insists that the answers are the only right ones... Perhaps we can use the analogy of ants/termites/rats....they attack our home...and we have to flush them out/kill them/destroy them, but the threat is always there....we can never learn to live with the luxury of a world free of termites...or ants...or rats... I read somewhere that if population continues to expand the way it is...statisticians predict that by the year 2050, 1 in every 2 people will be of Arab descent......what would the world be if the fundamentalist rule 50% of the world... EDIT : I am talking in a very broad context of the problem, the origins of the differences between the Mid East and the West.And please, I am NOT supporting or justifying any kind of terrorism.
