George, I do not doubt that oil is often an ulterior motive in power politics. The control of energy motivates many governments to act surreptitiously.

Yet Somalia really was sold as a humanitarian mission and I think it was. If not, our pullout is even more surprising; we tend to be stubborn when oil supplies are at risk.

The same administration took humanitarian action in Haiti, where I don't think oil supplies abound. Don't get me wrong; I am by nature, a skeptic. But I've found times when there's nothing hidden under the bush except twigs.
