Everything you say makes sense, and is measured, and balanced.

I've been listening to the news tonight, and the impression I am getting is that, for the moment, except for Britain (which will give us troops) other countries are with us in fighting terrorism, particularly with intelligence, but not with war, at least at this point. They would let us use their airspace. Russia is fence sitting. I mean, here we are without an enemy to bomb, literally.

600 Taliban are coming to meet--for several days. That's interesting. Even in spite of their swagger, for them the situation is delicate. And for Pakistan, which stands to gain much--there could be civil war. It's all very complicated.

What is amazing and impressive is the reach of the terrorist cells. Also interesting to me was the news of an Iraqi connection. I know tekboy says that's unlikely, but my gut feeling from my reading & playing foreign affairs catchup this week, is that it is indeed likely.

May you live in interesting times...
