Don, Street and all cato.org "Ancient History: US Conduct in the Middle East since WWII and the Folly of Intervention" by my friend Sheldon Richman then of the Cato Institute. A must-read for any LP member trying to assess what to do in re: Osama Bin Laden. If you're like me, you'll be scratching your head figuring out why we spend $3bil a year to subsidize Israel, given the unintended consequences. It's a long read but well worth it. Or, just skip to the conclusion section at the end. Interesting footnote: In the 30's Roosevelt proposed to France Britain and wealthly US Jews to finance the relocation in Iraq of Arab Palestinians in order to grease the skids for a Jewish State in Palestine. On the hubris scale of 1-10 that has to be an 11! The arrogance of interventionist US foreign policy! Someone said intervening in foreign affairs is like trying to shoot pool with a 20 foot cue.
