The United States, like most sovereign countries, has to establish relations and do business with those in power, with other governments, with heads of state.

I've been reading posts and comments for a week now from people like yourself who say there is this great yearning for democracy in that area of the world and the United States is evidently the greatest obstacle to seeing it realized. Something about that argument seems a little circular and self-serving to me. It smells like smoke.

What are the people of these nations doing to achieve freedom and democracy for themselves?

It's a serious question. I don't know the answer. Lost in my normal, common, un-extraordinary life as a citizen of this country, I've had no reason before now to really dig into it too deeply. I didn't realize what a greedy, rapacious, murderous oppressor I was until just last week.
