I doubt we will see a bounce of that magnitude for some time, unless we have sharp downside first.

Your assessment of the market/economic/confidence/valuation condition is correct, and there is much stock to be dumped. Rallies will be sold into, and we now have the added problem of the PPT needing to dump the inventory they have built up recently (plus further inventory they will doubtless build up over the coming days).
