Jerome, Some random thoughts
I don't disagree. I am beginning to come to the belief that bombing is futile. Also just look at a map. It is not at all an easy place for the US to use its power effectively. I am thinking now that we will be going after the cells in the 60 countries they exist in that are accessible. Watch for raids and shoot outs. Hopefully some of the bad guys will die. We need some retribution to get over the pain. Also the money trail. We must put those groups/institutions out of business and find a way to freeze the assets of terrorists. And if iraq is involved in any way Saddam must go.
Back to the economy.
1. no more tax cuts, especially cap gains--big government spending on rebuilding ny, and national defense and airlines bailout needed. No room for tax cuts. Patriotism should be the incentive of the rich, not incremental tax rates.
2. Short term tax relief--perhaps a payroll tax cut and immediate and increase unemployment insurance for those who are now losing their jobs.
2. I guess by the time Thanksgiving roles around, Americans will begin to spend on products that make life more enjoyable and more secure at or near home. DVD players, computers, cell phones, computer games. Anything and everything to get the kids to smile. Perhaps the violence oriented games will not be the ones purchased. Perhaps we will invent non violent fun stuff for kids.
