Shutting down the oil consumption is only part of the money engine. How about the heroin and narcotics trade..seems like a more direct funding in Afganistan.

As another thought of which I haven't thought through, some of things prohibited many be better controlled.
1) Like drugs..reduce narcotic import
2) Nuclear power, fuel cells...reduce oil dependency
3) Asbetos..If used, could of reduced consequences of the jet fuel fire in the WTC.
4) Pilot weapons..obvious.
5) CIA intelligence of foreigners in the USA..

This event turns upside down many pervious assumptions.
