As per PONs, I'm glad that the press is starting to shed some light on the true differences between the topologies of PONs and the legacy wireline alternatives. Historically, price-performance comparisons between fiber architectures and those of DSLs and CableModems tended to place fiber in an apples-to-apples light, which we now know is not going to be so. PONs (especially ePONs, I believe) will begin to show the ability to introduce economies that will be hard to beat on a gigabit-mile basis, IMO.
