I suspect that the poor performance of gold stocks relative to gold in this rally leads many to think that this bounce will fail like so many others before it. Gold stocks VASTLY outperformed gold during the period leading up to the 1993 bull. Too, since the gold complex has been moving opposite the stock market (albeit in a modest way), there is concern about what gold and gold stocks will do when the market finally stages a decent rally.
