On September 11, 2001 Nokia hosted a conference call on its 3Q 2001 Mid-Quarter Update which was hosted by Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo (EVP and CFO Nokia Group)

Obviously the market received the presentation well.
Ollie-Pekka responded to Questions related to:
* ASP (healthy & steady) & Inventories (close to normal)
* New product ASP (will be competetive - not "overly agressive with pricing)
* Overall margins handsets v. networks
* Software and hardware mix in networks (about same as prior)
* Infastructure slowing where (volume weakness is Europe - adding capacity only where necessarry).
* GPRS & 3G has thinking changed (on track with 3G ramping towards H2 next year)
* GPRS progress (yes 8310 will ship this quarter and previous guidance holds)
* Will 3G ramp when introduced next year (Nokia will be ready but depends on strategies of the carriers - normal rules of competition will be in effect)
* Will GPRS shipments 3Q contribute 3Q (only a little impact)
* Communicator (very well accepted)
* USA developments (signs of pickup and that's very important - hopefully sustainable - on CDMA side Nokia making good progress)
* Seasonality and possible market share gains (last few years Q3 has not been lower than Q2 - flat sequentially this year - haven't responded in kind to overly agressive pricing and have not decided to take market share this quarter)
* China and Asia-Pacific (going good)
* New products coming (yes)
Nokia's mid-quarter conference call on September 11, 2001, took place concurrently with dramatic world events. The Nokia representatives on the call were unaware of these developments at the time.

Nokia on the Recent Tragedy
