What he does not realize is that much of U.S. stock is held by Europeans, Hong Kong, and other people who are not U.S. cititzens and have their own problems and agenda.

There is also the need to start liquidating the positions of firms which effectively no longer exist....

I think Wall Street did a pretty good job, dealing with 4 days of pent-up selling in a nasty BEAR market with only 7% decline - could have been 10-20%

IF you look at the market after Pearl harbor, it declined until the Battle of Midway, about 9 months later.

Also very important - America is not just the financial markets - it's not about more than money.

By the way, thanks for posting the excellent Tom Clancy article.

There's a difference between the two authors - one, Balzar, well intentioned but clueless, and Mr. Clancy, well intentioned and informed.
