Some of these same 'investors' are likely to be the money managers that are responsible for hundreds of billions in investments for Ma and Pa America (and Canada and the UK and...), and probably they are making what they thing are the best decisions they can for their shareholders.

With all the uncertainly surrounding attack and how we move forward, it would be hard to fault some for taking a bit off the table - after all, we always need to ensure we have cash aside so that we can live to fight another day.

As nice as it sounds - its totally irrational to use Patriotism to prop up the stock market; the market being an ethereal concept at best in terms of what valuations actually mean.

And like it or not, we have to face facts that the market is a global mechanism peopled by folks that have different time frames, objectives, politics, and even shareholders to consider.

Some sell off was not surprising; into an already weakened economic environment suddenly there is more uncertainty thrust in front of us than we've seen in a generation, if ever.

Doesn't make it easier, granted.
