I heard a Fund Manager from Janus on CNBC the other night and he controls tens of billion of dollars....He said going into the crisis they had record amounts of cash (over 30%) and would be selectively buying...The Host probed more and The Fund Manager confirmed that 99% of his Fund team's activity would be buying on the long side...Yet, I think there is a good chance that most Fund Managers (especially those that manage the wealthy folks' money in Hedge Funds) did whatever they needed to do to insure short term gains.
