Few have walked the earth as have the Mahatma. Yet you might concede that he was opposing a colonial nation which did have something of a sense of morality, justice and a considdrable population which supported India's independence on grounds of conscience.

Britain left behind the framework of a democratic society, a first-rate Indian Civil Service, the world's largest rail system--and, not to belittle it--the English language, the only means of communication throughout the land.

I don't think a Salt March to Afganistan or Iraq or wherever the footprints lead would deter that crowd.
