President Bush issued an ultimatum to Pakistan to back allied action or run the risk of being bombed. I doubt this threat was made - overtly or covertly. Pakistan's decision to "support" (albeit reluctantly) the US was made for one reason, and one reason only. It's neighbor to the east, India. India, who until fairly recently, had rather cool relations with the US was one of the first countries to condemn the attack and offer all support necessary to the US in combating terrorism. I have heard (although not seen for myself) that India has even offered the US use of its territory for staging attacks on Afghanistan. IMHO, India's move was a brilliant political decision on their part. It put Pakistan in a big box - right between a rock (Afghanistan and the radical Muslims) and a hard place, Pakistan's biggest neighbor and enemy. No surprise that the President of Pakistan today said that this situation was the gravest threat to Pakistan since its 1971 war with India.
