This type of thinking(which is prevalent) is #1, self serving #2, unscriptural. The Bible is clear that from Abraham through Paul, we look for a city whose builder and maker is God. I do not see the USA as qualifying in that regard. Identifying the USA as being a "Christian" nation is a huge mistake. There are Christians in the USA. That does not make the country some sort of holy vessel. We are called not to be entangled in the affairs of this world. John told the soldiers "Do violence to no man." Name me one church father within 100 years of Jesus' death and resurrection that advocated violence.
