And don't forget pledge- we start with that (it's a promise, I say) And "united"- that is joined together (we all hold hands in class- we are "united")- Republic- that's tough (I say it's a country that does not have a king, because that is a monarchy- I think it's enough for them to know these two words, but I teach small kids.) Indivisible- I just tell them it cannot be divided- (we hold up our hands- and I say "pretend you cannot pull them apart"), justice- I define as fairness (even though that isn't exact, imo) and liberty is freedom (RECESS!). That's the way I do it.
