Gettin tough

Maybe it's the rope-a-dope. He doesn't have to "carpet bomb" or use cruise missiles to punish. The Taliban, (which incidentally rule Afghanistan but do not represent it in "most" countries) though cruelly oppressive, have achieved a certain level of peace in Afghanistan. If we chose to support their enemies they could be back in a mess of their own. I hope no one here is anxious for Bush to fall on his face and embarass us by killing a lot of children or camels or turning a lot of already ruined cities into smaller rubble. And I trust those around him can tell an aspirin factory from a 6'5" 160# guy whose picture is on a lot of posters.

What would be significant about air strikes if they did not accomplish any goal other than to seem "tough"? That would seem stupid IMO and I think that Bush has said that there will be unprecedented secrecy in this effort which may give us a small advantage of surprise that briefing Congress would surely kill.

Some British jets bombed in Iraq today to enforce the "no fly zone" and hardly a blip in the news..
