Thread, my unofficial benchmark: Very Complicated report generation, generates a multi-MB file. Reads a bunch of flat files into memory and then it makes many passes thru them while doing a bit of math on them before they are spit out onto a virtual report file. PIII-550 26 seconds ( NT4 ) PIII-1Ghz 12 seconds ( Win2K ) TBird-800 (100Mhz Fsb) 13 seconds ( XP ) TBird-1Ghz (133 Mhz FSB) 9.1 seconds ( XP ) All of those boxes have similar IDE drives. The 2 Athlons were actually at a bit of a disadvantage since they have 5400RPM drives. The PIIIs had 7200RPM drives. Tomorrow I'll have benches from other people @ work. One is from a P4-1.5 and the other from a TBird 1.4 oc'ed to 1.5. Constantine
