Peter, you may want to look at Sager. I think it is a good value.

sagernotebook.com

I have owned a 15" 8560 for about 2-1/2 years with never a minutes problem. It is carried and used as a desk top on a daily basis - 8-9 hours. I believe Sager has a fairly good warranty if I remember correctly - never had to use it.

A warning - it is a boat anchor, somewhere around 9-10 lbs. It is well constructed and rugged. I once dropped mine out of the case thinking it was closed, and it fell to a tile floor with no negative consequences. Another thing - although it has a large keypad, I find that sometimes I inadvertently hit the caplocks key. However, that may be because I am a klutz of a typist and typical of laptop keyboards.

Hope you find this useful.

Regards,
