On benchmark that I have not seen anywhere is the performance of the Microsoft C++ compiler and Sun's Java compiler. Software developers are one market segment where system speed is important and I would really like to be able to show our facilities department some hard numbers on P4 vs Athlon. Note that these comparisons must include numbers for P4 with SDRAM however "unfair" this may seem - for some reason they will not touch RDRAM-based systems. It seems to me it is crazy to buy P4 over Athlon for this purpose, but I just don't have the spare time to prove the case.
