I'm not positive of this, but I think I recall from living in
the midwestern US that 42s 16w or whatever is a way of
designating a specific section (1 sq mile) within a county or
other political division. The catch is that they start from the
original survey markers from sometime in the 1800's. Just my 2›
worth (maybe soon to be one share of stock).
