Crossport Systems Adds Two to Board of Directors
Simple, secure broadband Internet access product and services due in November 2000
Bellevue, Wash., May 16, 2000 - Crossport Systems announced today that John Hnanicek, COO of e-Toys and a member of Intel Corporation's Technical Advisory Board and Jan Claesson, formerly Microsoft Corporation executive, now Executive Vice President of GOAHEAD Software which develops and markets service availability software for Internet infrastructure have joined the Company's Board of Directors. Crossport Systems was formed in March of 2000 to design and deliver software, products, and services that simplify and secure broadband Internet access for small business users.
According to a study by Zona Research more than $19 billion was lost in 1999 due to security breaches. While loss of productivity is the most expensive cost associated with hacker attacks, more severe consequences including the theft of assets and information are important to consumer and business users of the Internet.
"Recent events such as the rapid proliferation of the 'ILOVEYOU' virus continue to raise the public awareness of the importance of security on the Internet², said Mr. Claesson. "Unfortunately, "always-on", high-speed connections pose a greater risk for unauthorized access", he added. "Providing a solution which matches the protection necessary for consumers and small office users and the market requirements for affordability, availability, and ease of use pose a significant challenge", stated Mr. Hnanicek.
"We are extremely pleased to have John Hnanicek and Jan Claesson join the Crossport Systems Board of Directors", claimed Rob Arnold, Chairman and CEO of the firm. "Our strategy and capability to deliver a safe and simple broadband Internet experience for small business users is enhanced significantly by the addition of these seasoned executives to our team."
