but shouldn't the Muslims in this country be asking the head Clerics in Muslim; or whoever takes the place of the pope; to denounce Bin Ladens's actions as murder rather than a holy war. If Muslims really are against this, why not at least protest against Bin Ladens actions.

Many Muslims have condemned the attacks. I think you are right that in Pakistan there is a lot of pro Bin Laden sentiment, and you will also find some of it in Palestinian camps but the Pakistani government has pledged its support for a US effort despite the risk of an internal backlash against the government, and I have seen expressions of sorrow, and support from Arabs and other Muslims.

There are undoubtedly Muslims who hate the US. There are others who go further then that and support deadly attacks against us by groups like Al-Queda. But hatred against American Muslims is not justified by the reactions of a few Palestinians or crowds in Pakistan. Muslims where killed in the WTC. There would also be Muslims in our armed forces that would be involved in any military response and possibly dying for their country in the process.

I think the support has been more low key, lighting candles or placing flowers at US embassies, quiet discussion about how the Koran does not support this attack in an interview, or official statements condemning the attack. The supporters of the attack have been shouting and cheering. They have been louder and probably considered more newsworthy so they have gotten the most attention.
