A frightening prospect regarding the E-bomb is that the steering column in vehicles will likely no longer be mechanically connected to the wheels in this decade. An old mechanical engineer friend used to make the joke that he didn't trust anything that didn't clank when it worked. I have a love-hate relationship with technology and have often thought I would have preferred having been born several hundred years ago. God willing, I can retire in ten years and escape the city to my rural property. * * *
