the only rationale for the so-called 'war on drugs' is to make politicians look good (they appear to be 'doing something') and to keep an armada of people employed that are profiting from it, on the backs of a small class of drug users that are criminalized for a 'crime' that hurts no-one but themselves. everyone from the law enforcement agencies, the therapists, and the mafia bosses wants this 'war' kept going...they all have jobs that way, and the mafia bosses profits would actually be non-existent if drugs were - gasp! heresy! - legalized.
