>> Craig, I can't believe you would defend Pat Buchanan and isolationism <<

i agree with buchanan on a lot of issues. i'm not interested in rehashing every single military conflict in history and being pat buchanan's defender. but i do agree with some basic points that he makes.

i believe we should only involve ourselves in conflicts or disputes that involve a direct threat to americans.

we do not belong in the middle east. it's not our fight. it's not our homeland, and it's not even our region of the world. we have no vital interest in sending american troops to places like the balkans where we slaughtered a couple thousand innocent civilians. nothing was accomplished except state-sponsored terrorism inflicted on innocent men, women, and children by NATO. it's ok for the U.S. and NATO to terrorize the world to achieve their imperialism, but it's not ok for terrorists from the middle east to terrorize americans to achieve their goals?

trying to challenge china's sovereignty by aiding in the defense of taiwan is like britain sending troops to help the south secede during our civil war. the civil war was our business, not the business of the rest of the world. the civil dispute between PRC and taiwan is between them and is none of our business.

perhaps if we didn't have our military stretched out across the globe in places like the middle east and the balkans, we could have focused on defending our own borders against infiltration by the terrorists. perhaps if we would mind our own business and focus on our own republic instead of playing policeman to the world, terrorists would have no reason to attack us in the first place!
