Story 5350 DJ CNBC's FABER REPORT: Bass Sells 135M Disney Shares
The following is a portion of a report aired Monday on CNBC by reporter
David Faber:
Sid Bass and the Bass family have sold 135 million shares of Walt Disney at
$15 a share in order to meet a margin call. That is what people who are close
to this stunning trade are saying was the reason it took place.
Mr. Bass has not returned a call to his Family Investment Partnership in
Fort Worth, Texas. There he is at the press conference that announced the Cap
Cities and Disney deal.
Disney has confirmed that it has purchased 50 million of the shares, that
cost the company $750 million. Goldman Sachs has placed the remainder of the
share with institutional accounts.
