OT: Berney, rhetoric...
In my opinion I don't see enough rhetoric! I am simply amazed by the abject lack of rhetoric!
From what I know of the Islamic way of life and religion, which I readily admit is very little, I am astounded that the Muslim community is not "raising holy hell" about persons who MAY be included in their religion, heritage, or even just their way of life that have apparently perpetrated one of the most single heinous crimes against humanity in history!
If I was being put in the same area with these pigs that perpetrated this act I would raise holy hell. Instead I see very little in the way of denials. I see the Iraq leader expressing his "warmest sympathies" to the families of WTC survivors. I can only construe that this means some form of sympathy with the perps, either 100%, 50%, or perhaps 10%, but sympathy non-the-less!!!! ANYONE who is in ANY of these categories is on my personal bad guy list.
The other observation I would offer is that I have seen very little rhetoric, not enough for a tragedy of this magnitude. I don't see "remember the Maine", I don't see that sort of thing and unless we get some of these intangibles cranking I think folks will silently allow things to slip away! I don't see a matter of national pride at stake here! Where is the fury to be unleashed? When there is a cry to "buy America" the stock market goes down. Pragmatism? Fear? I hope not. Delayed reaction? I hope so!
I have had no replies to my earlier post on "sicing the dogs on the towel heads". This suggests to me that either people don't read my posts (which may be entirely possible gg), or they just don't care. Perhaps they are too worried about loosing/making money. I dunno. But something is obviously missing here! This time it's different.
I, like you, don't condone the desecration or vandalism of any facility, but I would suggest this act you have mentioned pales in comparison to the Vandalism that was enacted upon the World Trade Center.
For me personally, I will go visit down town Manhattan well before I will visit any Mosque even if it was next door.
Good luck tomorrow, maybe we will bounce.
