I know it's apples/oranges, but I watched PressTek very carefully on it's monumental climb and it was nothing but small trades.

Of course, that was an unusual situation. Apparently, for example, brokers were encouraging customers to move their shares from their margin accounts to their cash accounts as quickly as possible. This apparently removes those shares from availablity for shorting, thus forcing the holder of the short to cover, thus making the shares available to short even more scarce, also making the "actual float" smaller, thus creating a frenzy.

it was incredible to watch.
